Everyday…it’s what counts

by Anjula Caldwell on January 27, 2010

You wake up in the morning, have your cup of coffee while getting the kids ready for school. Or you get yourself up, say goodbye to your husband (or wife if you are the husband), grab your Starbucks and head into the office. You do your daily tasks, go through the motions, come home, have dinner, maybe watch a little TV. If you have kids, you get them ready for bed, feed them dinner, get their homework finished, put them to bed and try to take a moment for yourself in the midst of catching up with your spouse and paying the bills. Mundane, right? Is there anything else? I have been thinking about the mundane lately. The monotony of my daily schedule. I have realized I LOVE IT. That’s my life. The little moments where I get to watch the puppies play fight. The moments where I look at my husband and take a moment to say, “I love you.” The moments where I appreciate what I do every day. If I spend the rest of my life frustrated about the mundane, every day tasks I do just to live, I will watch my life disappear. If I spend the rest of my life being thankful for every moment, good, bad, boring, exciting, I will live a life enriched with joy and love no matter what happens. I want to live in joy and gratefulness, not expectation of what could be or regret for what was…but excitement for what is. Even if that moment is simply me getting my morning coffee.
